A feeling that will live with you forever.
All pilots remember their first solo. It’s the first time they ever took flight without an instructor next to them. Feelings range from extreme joy to heightened nervousness before the solo to an unexplained endorphin rush after the solo is complete.
An old tradition for the new solo pilots. In a sense, we want to symbolically make sure they do not fly too far from the nest so we “Clip their Wings“, which could mean anything from clipping the back of their shirt to fully soaking them with a bucket of water to.. well… just look at the pictures. It’s all in good fun though, and many of our students carry fond memories of both the solo and after solo event.
