Why Get This Rating...

The commercial single and multi-engine license will enable you to work without any restrictions in any airline or with any operator. This license is the best of both worlds since you can start flying singles and move onto twins once you have the required experience.

Commercial pilots work in major airlines such as Delta, regionals like American Eagle, mail/cargo carriers like FEDEX, and business jets for big corporations. Most pilots gain the experience required for these jobs by working as flight instructors, charters and tour pilots, glider & banner towing, and crop dusting. ADF Airways will train you with the skills, knowledge, and professionalisim neeeded to propel your career forward.

Requirements for a Commmercial Pilot License

This FAA certificate allows you to fly any aircraft for compensation or hire. The requirements are:

  • You must be a private pilot.
  • You must be 18 years old .
  • Pass a Second class medical exam.
  • 250 hours total flight experience.
  • 10 hours multi-engine or complex aircraft time.
  • Meet PIC experience requirements.
  • Cross-country time requirements.

The Training Program

Ground school and flight school are interwoven with simulators, books, and videos into a seamless training program the maximizes understanding. A time tested Curriculum-based program will allow you to learn quickly and effectively.Flight simulators will be used extensively to minimize costs and your ADF Flight Intructor will guide your training with experience, patience, and a smile.

The Commercial Pilot program is composed of 3 stages:

Stage 1- Flight Experience
Before training with an instructor you will acquire the flight time required to meet the minimum FAA requirements. ADF Airways will tell you exactly how much time you need and from there set up a customized training program to fit your needs. We will fly 50 of the 250 total flight hours in a simulator to save money and provide better training.
Stage 2- Sel Maneuvers
Once you accumulate 220 hours (which includes time acquiring your private and instrument rating) and pass the commercial written exam; your training can begin. 10 hours of flight instruction will be supplemented with 10 hours of solo practice on learning commercial maneuvers like Chandelles, Lazy Eights, and Eights on Pylons. You will also receive ground training in areas such as Crew Resource Management, Aeronautical Decision Making, Weather, Air Carrier/Operator Federal regulations, aircraft and passenger consideratons and pilot-in-command professionalism.
Stage 3- Multi-Engine Time
Multi-engine aircraft allow commercial operations to travel farther, faster and higher while carrying the largest loads possible per flight. In 10 flight hours and about 40 simuhlator hours ADF will train you to proficiently command these aircraft using or piper Aztec PA23-250; the best multi-engine training airplane due to its size, power, and stability.

Once you have your Commercial Pilot's License, you have the education and training you need to fly for hire. Keep in mind that in addition to a CPL, many owner/operators also require a certain amount of flight time and experience - especially if you are going for your Airline Transport Pilot certificate.

One of the best ways to build flight time and experience is to become a Certified Flight Instructor (CFI). At a typical flight school, you can earn many hours a day for little personal expense, since all hours of dual instruction are added to your logbook and the aircraft costs are covered by the flight school or student. This makes a CFI certification an ideal way to built your flight hours while helping others on their path to an aviation career.
